King Abdulaziz was born in Riyadh on the19th of Dhu Al Hajji 1293 AH (i.e. 1876). He was brought up under the care of his father who put him later on under the care of Sheikh Gadi Abdullah Al Kharji. He learned reading and hand-writing and memorized some verses of the Holy Qur'an and later memorized all of it under the supervision of Sheikh Mohammad Bin Museibih. King Abdul Aziz Efforts in Saudi Arabia's Establishment and Construction
These efforts included many aspects of life; the political, administrative, economical, and social life. For example, the establishment of suburbs; which was a major step toward unifying the tribes, providing an appropriate social environment to serve the citizens, improving citizens' lives, and uniting them into one society. As soon as he entered Riyadh, he started laying the foundation principles of a modern Islamic state; principles which are based on Sharia and the Prophet's Sunnah (i.e., the prophet’s teachings).
The Convention of Darren (Al-Qatif) held with the British government in 1334 AH (i.e., 1915), is considered the first official agreement establishing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His Majesty also paid special attention to the administrative management of the state. The conquest of Hijaz was the first test of interest in modern administrative management. He also paid special attention to education, and therefore the Directorate for Education was established in 1344 AH (i.e., 1925).
He also didn't neglect infrastructure building. This was given its due importance with the building of roads for transportations, and linking this sprawling large country with telegraph, mail and telephone services.

Quotes from King Abdulaziz
  • I call in the name of the religion of Islam and ask to spread it among the clans. I am an advocate of the doctrine of our virtuous ancestors, and the doctrine of our virtuous ancestors is the adherence to the Book of Allah and to the Sunnah of his Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him). I grew up in the desert, and therefore I do not know the art of oratory…but I know the truth bared of all decoration …that our glory and honor come with Islam.
  • Advice must have a basis; a commitment to truth. Then it becomes fruitful and beautiful, and that is how advice is beneficial. Disregarding advice leads to ignorance and blind passion. We want all advice to combine Sunna and what God has ordered us to do.
